Tahoe in Sanctuary

TAHOE'S STORY

Tahoe came into sanctuary with Sky Mountain Wild in 2018 after being rounded up and removed from the range with band mate Spirit. He was named by Sanctuary volunteers Ani and Myla for a place they love sharing with their own family. Even as an undernourished five-year-old mustang, Tahoe was strikingly handsome. He’s a tall red-bay, standing at about 15 hands. Immediately, he captured the attention of all.

As Tahoe gained weight and muscle, he started demonstrating his natural floating trot. He’s an elegant mover and knows instinctively how to use his body to glide across the land. As Tahoe found his place in the Sanctuary band, he became one of the leaders. He now shares this position with lead mare Midnight. As a protector of the band, he is always in the background, on watch, ready to alert others to potential danger, and lead them to safety. Tahoe and Spirit show a deep bond, and both can be spotted on the outskirts of the band, keeping their distance from humans.

Tahoe is one mustang who embodies his job as protector and leader. Reveling in forever freedom in sanctuary, this stunningly beautiful wild horse will never be touched by human hands.

You can help Tahoe . . . by choosing him.

*Luminaria is Spanish for a special light or lantern which guides by illuminating the way. Be a light for forever freedom for a mustang of Sky Mountain Wild Horse Sanctuary ~ where mustangs belong only to the sky, the mountains, the wild, and each other. Thank you for being a Luminaria for mustangs.
