Starlight in Sanctuary
STARLIGHT'S STORY
In the Sanctuary's original band was a very pregnant mare named Luna. Shortly after she arrived, she gave birth to a spindly colt with legs as long as his mamma’s. Sanctuary volunteers Grace and Nate first wanted to call him Norman, for his lovable personality. When they noticed that he had a large white marking on his forehead that looked like a paintball splatter, they decided on the name Starlight.
Now in his late teens, Starlight is strong-willed and dominant. Tahoe sets him straight by chasing him around. This handsome bay mustang has lived at the Sanctuary his entire life, running free with his family band on 1,000 acres with plentiful grass and water. He carries no human-induced trauma. Starlight is a crowd favorite because he will often approach a person whom he likes; a person who has a calm demeanor, who is grounded and present.
Starlight shows great interest in children and will often stand with them. Mustangs are known for trusting children, and being gentle around them, acting as if they are protecting them. Starlight will sometimes put his nose on a chosen human’s hand and "pet" it. He does not let a person pet him; everyone knows Starlight is in charge of petting. Starlight is most often found by his mamma Luna's side. Stand very still and he may choose you for a petting.
You can help Starlight . . . by choosing him.
*Luminaria is Spanish for a special light or lantern which guides by illuminating the way. Be a light for forever freedom for a mustang of Sky Mountain Wild Horse Sanctuary ~ where mustangs belong only to the sky, the mountains, the wild, and each other. Thank you for being a Luminaria for mustangs.
