Astro in Sanctuary
ASTRO'S STORY
Astro was rounded up in 2022 and placed in a holding pen along with band mate, Kirei. Around age 20 when he was removed from the range, Astro was an elder. An eye-catching solid bay, his age and wild nature dissuaded potential adopters from choosing him. Standing in the confines of the pen, Astro’s future looked bleak. Older mustangs are often sold for as little as $25 and put on a trailer for the long ride to slaughter over the border. Sky Mountain Wild staff wanted to give both Astro and Kirei a chance to live and to be free once again.
Astro was named by Ella, whose mom is a kind Sanctuary donor. Ella’s creative name fits this mustang, who is a gift from above. Today, Astro runs free and wild with Kirei by his side, always off in the distance. He embodies the miracle of sanctuary; where mustangs belong only to the sky, the mountains, the wild, and each other.
You can help Astro . . . by choosing him.
*Luminaria is Spanish for a special light or lantern which guides by illuminating the way. Be a light for forever freedom for a mustang of Sky Mountain Wild Horse Sanctuary ~ where mustangs belong only to the sky, the mountains, the wild, and each other. Thank you for being a Luminaria for mustangs.
